I like our format of one thread per episode, but since we focus on plot elements and action a lot, I thought we should have one where we can put our character opinions and theories specifically.
So, quick overview of mine.
I won't shut up about how Alias and Drop are my cuddle babies, I don't know if anyone has noticed. I liked the whole Drop concept from the start, I found him strangely relatable, and loved how Johnny managed to make him funny despite everthing. And he's only getting more interesting as time goes by. His arc could go so many places, I can't even begin to guess. If he's found some kind of happiness, or at least peace by the end of the season, that's all I could ask for. (Preferably by the side of a certain Eladrin, but that's the cherry on top).
Alias might be the most "classic" character, no real insane quirks, but I just love how Skitch plays him. I couldn't even really pinpoint what it is I like about him so much. But I'm sure he's gonna have some very interesting development as well, who knows, maybe he's gonna be the murder machine by the end of this.
I'm normally not that big on cutesy characters, and I'm past the time in my life where saving the world via friendship and hugs was an intriguing concept to me (even though I still hope it will be, I'm just jaded). But I can look past most of the character traits that would normally annoy me about Vinnie, because of Lauren's performance. She's really gets into it, she makes her believable, and really alive. I give her a lot of credit for that.
Now, get your pitchforks ready, guys, because I don't care much for Violet, at least not at this point. I think there's some interesting development on the horizon, as Leon has hinted at.
It's not the fact that she's a unicorn. I have one of those mofo's permanently inked on my person. I think I remember the point when the character lost me.
Leon: "My character is a unicorn."
Me: "Hell yeah she is!"
Leon: *disney princess backstory*
Me: "Fuck..."
Now, of course, Leon's entitled to do whatever he wants with his character, as long as Austin allows it, but Violet's whole schtick is way too much for me. It's fitting for Leon though, cause he's a apparently a D&D anarchist, and couldn't care less about what game they're actually playing He played Rinaldo the same way, to an extent, but somehow, it wasn't as noticable to me. That's just my observations and preferences, of course. I could be completely wrong.
I'm glad people get a kick out of Violet, she's just not for me.
Favourite NPC so far is Eyeball Jenkins, just because. And Mediocre Jeff has a very average place in my heart.
One more thing: Austin is a fantastic DM. I would even say that he and Johnny are my favourite DM's of Dice Funk.
Seriously, I sadly don't play D&D myself, but I think he's doing a great job of building the world, and guiding the party while giving them lots of freedom.
