Batman's fighting style definitely gave me an Arkham vibe with how tight and brutal his attacks and blocks/counterattavks were. The gun stuff was ehh, since Batman has a big reason to hate guns, but I guess this is on older, morally compromised Batman.
Emo Superman's been an issue since Man of Steel, but that's mainly the script's fault. Seems like the writers think of hope "refusal to roll over and die when life gets dark and you're at your lowest" instead of "hope makes you confident that the future will be okay."
I didn't expect a lot of WW, since she's not the main focus. It was kinda odd how Diana seemed like Selina Kyle in her early scenes, but WW was so badass at the end that I'm super excited for her movie now

The two DC movies so far have been like that too: lots of characters, yes I recognize them (for the most part), no I'm not invested in them. They need more personality and less focus on "these characters are modern myths and this is how they'd be received in the modern political world." Snyder, just cut that shit out and tell me a story about people with consistent motivations. Jokes are fun, but I don't necessarily need them. Just characters and motivations driving them.
Yeah I know what you mean. Personally, I don't have a big problem with that and I rarely even read comics. What I know, I learned on the fly some how, or I really look stuff up on characters, that I find interesting (read a lot about Quicksilver, after watching the new X-Men). Maybe I just miss a lot of in-jokes that way, don't know.
But I get your problem with the lack of investment. Honestly, I think they just throw every character on the wall and see who sticks – which one gets the most positive response and which toys and merchandise sells best. Because it is about selling more, than just cinema tickets, it is about selling brands (sounded cool, didn't it).
This Batman, though, moves with a fluid grace, using his environment to his advantage and he never stops moving. I LOVED THAT SO HARD! I just want an entire movie of Ben Affleck's Batman fighting groups of thugs for like two hours and I will go home from the theater a happy man and buy the Blu Ray.
The fights looked good, I agree - except for that fucking box he threw! That isn't possible on so many levels. I'm just conflicted about the gun thing … he does the logical and tactical sound thing, for someone who wants to get rid of people (often a lot at once): he shoots them, if he has the chance. But I was always under the impression, that Batman hated guns, because his parents ware shoot. Not sure if this is, or was can(n)on (sorry), but I always had it in my head that way.
And #2 Gal Gadot was just WASTED!!! She was awesome in the final fight scene, but she was such an afterthought for the first 3/4 of the film. I wish she had been featured more, used more, just on screen being important more. I know she is going to star in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie and be a huge player in the JLA movie, but that is no excuse to give her little more than a glorified cameo before the final battle in BvS.
The film was called Batman v. Superman (why not spend money on an additional 's' there, hm?). So I get, that there wasn't that much Wonder Woman in there. Otherwise, It would probably play in the direction, that Jade mentioned: to many characters, to really do something meaningful with them. But in the end, she did good at the scene at the party – so she can play Diana Prince. And she can look badass and do fighty stuff, so she can do Wonder Woman as well. As long as nothing really fucked up happened in the few month between the BvS shoot and the WW shoot, I'm on board with this.
I have a theory on why it's Batman v Superman instead of Batman Vs Superman. Basically, they wanted Batman first in the title, because he's more marketable, but "vs Superman" requires you to speak the S sound twice in a row, which for linguistic reasons is kind of a mouthful, so they changed it to make it easier to say.
