Some things immediately come to mind.
1. Another con is the ghosts. As long as the barrier is in place, they seem to be unable to leave. And many of them don't remember enough about themselves to carry any guilt. Even the animal spirits are trapped, even if the mirrors couldn't hold them.
2. It seems likely that Light has already made this choice. He knows that Aurora is female. He knows that she knows what's going on and thus could talk to the party about it. He's talked to her, and that's what was the reason he blocked off his memory. He knows he could choose to leave, but doesn't. Not sure if it's his duty to make sure the tower doesn't go down, or protecting his daughter, but he made his choice. He is eternal--he'll always be there to keep it.
2.5: The gods know Aurora. Maybe this could be how Light knows that she's female, but it would be better otherwise. The gods just know what she does, and how she is relatively harmless.
2.75: Lucas also knew. How else could he have made the mirrors? He may not know exactly, so probably didn't talk to Aurora, or didn't ask all the right questions. But he knew enough to use the same thing.
3. I do not know what Dora's choice is. Ganny would say to remove the barrier. The Rocs would say not to. Dora has also Dora has been very reluctant to follow Ganny many times, finding loopholes. Heck, I at first thought Ganny!Nim was talking to Dora about not being willing. She also doesn't do grand scale things. She would also be very one-note if she never grows.
3.5. She could possibly choose to stick around and only take it down after the Rocs are dead. She could possibly choose to go out and remove the threat so that the Rocs could also leave. But I don't think she's smart enough for that.
4. However, I do think the party as a whole is smart enough for what is the best solution right now. That is TELL EVERYONE ELSE WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO LEAVE AND HELP THOSE WHO WANT TO DO IT!
4.5: That's how Veltari can leave without losing Carrie. Tell Carrie how to do it. Then they both can leave together. Maybe it takes a while, but Carrie seems amendable enough to carrying her guilt.
5. If Light is worried, he has the tools to keep Grace inside as long as he wants. Erase the memories of her guilt. No memory, no way to carry it with you. Same idea as the ghost thing. No need to get worried as long as there still is a barrier.
6. The barrier has to come down eventually, no matter what. Not because Ganny will do it, but so that we can have the next season. The wheel must keep turning. So maybe the ghost thing isn't so bad.
6.5: hopefully the mirrors would automatically open once there is no longer anything there to power them. And surely that is how they work--how else could Lucas get so close and them be so powerful?
7. Austin only plans to do 7 total seasons before he dies, since season 8 (the sex season) requires him to be resurrected. But Austin has no desire to stop as long as we'll have him. That means at least one of the 4 following seasons will last a really long time.
