Hi shackers!
Some few days until the new Star Wars movie! Wohoo! But don't you think this universe is so rich that there could so many more stories? How about making some? Here, in the shack.
But since we all have so little time and the different time zones I suggest we do it as text form, similar to the ADD threads.
I would offer to GM, giving flavortexts, storyhooks, challenges, maps, NPCs (including some spoiler-information for appearing 'throw-away NPCs' to allow the players to write more flowingly) and rules (more on that later). Since I can do updates from work a steady flow of reactions should be doable with main posts probably on the weekend.
So, if three to eight (hey, I'm optimistic in what I can handle) shackers want to have some rather lighthearted game about puckish rogues great deeds (as I want to hit the tone of the movies etc.) here is the place to start.
There are some questions open:
1) Will the group be mostly force users or not? In the canon a Jedi heavy group would rule out the era of the Empire, though there are other options of force users/sensetive. I will allow nearly every character, including droids, but might restrict some choices like an Ewok before Return of the Jedi or a Jedi-droid.
2) What era do we want to play in? I personally like the time after the destruction of the second Deathstar because the shift in the balance of power enables the characters to really achive something without needing giant armies. But the time after KotOR II or while the Clone Wars has similar traits, so I'm flexible if you want something else. I will definitely rule what fits the story over what is canon. So if you kill little Ani there will be no more Skywalkers (apart from his mother). But someone else might become Darth Vader if you leave Palpatine alive.
3) What rules will we use? I'm not a big fan of the class system in the D&D Star Wars RPG but with some changes we could use the World of Darkness system. There you have points in attributes and skills which you combine to roll as many D10 where every 8 or higher is a success. Of course there is more, but that are the basic rules, simple and lean. In a later post I can give you all the rules we need if we decide to use them. As I said there are official rules, too.
Cheers!
