OK, I'm done now with Saturn. And Zen was right, MORE would definitely be nice!
Thank you very much! I'm really glad you like it, especially after reading both of the first two episodes. I feel like the first one can be pretty stand alone, but the second is the one where it dives in saying, "Yes, this is gonna be a big thing." The fact you're still on board is great.
I'm also glad the sci-fi is working for you. This is my first time working with the genre and I've been actually terrified about how to deal with the details of things because I don't have time to get a degree in theoretical physics to understand how these things would actually be happening. At this point, I'm going with the rule of thumb that whatever makes the action work, whether its true to life or not. So far it seems it hasn't come back to bite me. The Futurama comparison with the ships works pretty well in my head too. If I were directing this to be in some visual medium, I think I'd use a little more sleek design, but the size comparison is just about spot on for what I have in my head and the internal structure fits just as well.
The book idea has come to mind before, if only in the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes sort of way where all the stories are collected into volumes. The series of short stories format made the most sense to me because its the closest to a TV series I can make and all told I think that's where this story would shine the most. I've written out the whole plot line already as a way of putting a skeleton to the story and when laid out I got about 26 episodes, which going by Firefly as a model would make it a 2 season show. (I've thought about sharing the outline too as a way of being sure the story could be told in some form, but not sure how much people would want to read a synopsis of a series that technically doesn't exist yet.) Mainly, I just want to tell this story with these characters because whenever I tell it to myself its something that I really want to see made.
