Oh, I was getting confused when talking about Hamilton being small town & racist, because I thought they were discussing the musical.
I have actually experienced people refusing a tip (in Scotland)
Leon - you never talk to crazy!
Wow - The Dom must have turned around his "Lost in Adaption" episode really quickly, because that episode went up before this (I imagine his episodes take more post-production than Word Funk).
Apologies for the grossness, but I'm fairly certain the guys in the elevator weren't thinking about Leon's organ but the (putative) lady he was putting it into.
Late to the party, but I did finally see The Last Jedi. I think the sound dropping out was my favorite part. There's no sound in space , so a shot from far away with no sound seemed real to me. But I'm also annoyed at all the billowing burning gasoline plumes in space too/ Half of that is they don't seem violent enough. So, yeah, finally some shit really gets fucked up in a satisfying way. I guess my major criticism is that with the various threads of the story I lost track of what I was supposed to be anticipating, reducing it to "things happen", but I was also watching at home being distracted and interrupted. That's similar to why action scenes tend to bore me; the actual content of the scene isn't an important development or possible fork in the road of the story with difference consequences that have been set up to interest me; it's just drawn-out "stuff happens". Some of the humor also didn't quite land right for me. Not that I object to the humor, but its delivery or editing just didn't land right. Eh, that's all movie-making stuff. The story was basically fine, even if I think it could have been assembled in a way more to my liking, and I'm entirely willing to accept that I could have been more engaged if I had watched it uninterrupted. I could also have just been in a tired and crappy mood like 95% of the time.
The funny thing about working for tips, it seems to me, is that in theory it's labor directly taking a cut of the money coming in, which in principle isn't objectionable. It's the practice of people not tipping, or tip-stealing, or just not being enough to actually afford being alive on the planet that's the problem. Go, UBI!
Locob0: its been almost a year since word funk went on a indefinate hiatus, i still miss it it was the highlight of my week and it kept me happy
