I'm not dead, just on vacation in Utah (which is almost the same thing)
FUNK DUNK Plays is officially still on. I have word from both of the girls that we will be getting the band back together once a month for our D&D podcast. There are simply too many corn puns left to not keep doing it, and we all really love it. Also, I am super psyched to explore the fantasy world I created as a teenager through the eyes of my players.
(full disclosure, I love the shit out of both of them and any excuse to spend time with them is more than I could ever pray for)
FUNK DUNK classic is over, since I'm not about to continue the show with the same name without the rest of the the people who made it great. And it was great. I can listen to any episode and laugh my ass off at how funny we were. A lot of the credit for that goes to Kerstin for her amazing editing skills, but credit goes to all of us because you can't edit unfunny into funny. We made magic, and I am forever grateful to both of them for allowing me to make my dream of being a podcaster come true.
FUNK DUNK as a thing (outside of Plays) is still on, though. I have a preliminary agreement with a potential permanent co-host to turn it into a two person show edited by me once a week (except for FD Plays weeks. Some people have religion, I have D&D). Subject matter will be slightly skewed toward our peculiar interests, but we will still do questions and pretty much follow the FUNK DUNK format because I'm not about to fix shit that isn't broken. If anything about FD wasn't broken, it was the format.
Shack Funk is Jade's podcast and exists alongside and not in any form of competition with FUNK DUNK. Jade is my best friend and I love her forever. I wish her the best for her show and will probably be on it sooner rather than later because I seriously love podcasting with her. We have two (three?) podcasts in this fandom for a reason: there is just too much fucking awesome here for one. Celebrate it, lovers.
So yeah, that's where we stand with the future of the original Funky Fan Podcast. Co-host and updated name to follow, though it will still be called FUNK DUNK. Just not just FUNK DUNK. Capcom updated Street Fighter 2 and kept calling it Street Fighter 2, but not just Street Fighter 2, ya dig?
I love all you amazing nerds and I look forward to entertaining you in new and different ways once I get back to Maine.
To err is human. To dunk is divine.
