Unsure if sarcasm I actually liked the first NSMB, since it was cool to see a 2D Mario after so many years without a new one... but then they just kept going.
No. Not sarcastic! The first NSMB was awesome and fun to see, but they brought it on to the Wii and then Wii U and then Super Luigi? Sigh. I like the 3D world and 3D Land, but I feel that the Wii U actually misses a proper Mario game. The N64 had SM64, the Gamecube had the Super Mario Sunshine, the Wii had Super Mario Galaxy and the Wii U gets a semi port of a 3DS game?
AHH! GameCube love! I loved my Cube, if for no other reason that it was the only game machine that could be used as a weapon and probably not even get damaged. Anyway, point, right. My Cube love is based on Wind Waker (my favorite Zelda game, actually) Tales of Symphonia (the only Tales game I've loved) and, mostly really, ETERNAL DOPENESS (or, as some people call it, Eternal Darkness) the only video game to legit scare me. Why can't THAT get an HD remake (I mean, why other than the fact that Silicon Knights went out of business?)
That is excactly the same reason I love the Gamecube as well. Wind Waker is my favourite Zelda game, Tales of Symphonia, Eternall Darkness. And I loved Melee. More than Brawl and the new Smash.
If the NX DOES end up being Nintendo's Dreamcast, I hope that'll only apply to their home console market and they'll still produce handhelds. I know they're slowly moving more into mobile apps, but they just aren't the same.
I haven't been playing a whole lot of games lately, to be honest (unless you count Pokémon Go). I still have a small backlog that I'll get to eventually (all of which are 3DS games -- can you see why I'm concerned about Nintendo's handhelds? lol), but I'm been too busy writing to pick anything back up. I have a habit of starting a game, getting distracted by something else halfway through, then never picking the game up again until a year or so later.
At this point I think the handheld is Nintendo's bread and butter, and I'm pretty certain they aren't considering to phase that out. Unless, the rumours are true and that the NX is a combination between a console and a handheld. It remains to see. Anyways, I replayed Mario Kart 8 and it was a blast.
