24 E3 talk 57 Questions 1.28 Johnny reads! (Finale)
Never had a runner's High. As somebody who is getting back into running, I may sometimes attain a "Runner's Zen"
I've seen memes you wouldn't believe... Cat posters on fire off the shoulder of Mario...
When Johnny said "You heard it here first" - I thought he was going to continue with "Leon got lucky!" (which he definitely said). Followed by his saying he wanted to play it "the other way" (I think the Funk is getting to me).
One effect of splitting California would be to (probably) get more Democrats in the Senate, as it's likely North & South California would elect Democratic Senators (the 2016 race was between two Democrats in California).
My first (paid) job was singing at weddings (aged 8?). Got £1 an hour!
On multiple Californias: Also, at both the state and federal level people are annoyed at being outvoted by the other "side" when the division is also geographical. Cities and counties are upset at being the minority in their states, and states are upset at being in the minority in the country. Adding in the disproportional weight given individual votes at the federal level and I wouldn't be surprised if there are some serious proposals to re-jigger everything. But then while the idea of more "local democracy" might have wide support, there wouldn't be agreement on its powers and limits. I'm also born and raised in a city that half-jokingly but half-proudly calls itself a People's Republic ("Martha, those crazy hippies are at it again"), and the state is trying to preempt local bans on fracking next to schools, so I have an affinity for some level of city state-ness. But the original local democracy kerfluffle in the US was over not wanting to treat every person as a person, and I'm not in favor of that. I think it's going to continue to be an issue and worsening, but don't know that there's an all around good solution.
Pennies: I'm still slowly converting my bucketful of pennies to nickles whenever I buy something with cash.
Grr, on defending guilty clients: Yeah, a good number of supposed Americans just want the cops to put people directly in prison without trial and the government having to prove its case. Just give the "right" people all the power without being fettered by stupid rules about the way government is supposed to function and let them do whatever. That'd be just so great.
Oh, god. Different voices for different people. I've been conscious under certain circumstances of the switch being thrown in my brain with a large BANG rendering me utterly powerless against speaking in a smooth, soft voice. That emotional state has been activated and it's talking now. No, it wasn't the little brain driving, but sure seems like a different part of my brain was. Now back in the day before cell phones and knowing who was calling my answering voice was definitely a lower, more "WTF do you want?" voice, but that was not exactly involuntary. I remember it being remarked on at the time the transition from that to the "Oh, hey, it's you!" voice.
It's mostly unconscious, too. My sister sounds positively Northern (having lived in the North for a couple of decades) to my Southern ears, but people there think (or at least, used to think) she sounded "posh"!
I'm really surprised how much of their to-be-former-state most of the separatists want to keep. I mean, either they know it is a bad idea (or at least it has some major drawbacks) or they don't really want to be a separate state but just not pay for others or something. If a state would want to leave the country (eg. in Germany that would be Bavaria) I normally say: "Great! Let's do a hard cut. Don't let the door hit you when you go." Sure those states often are a richer part of the country but how long will they stay that way, if it would be a hard cut?

Reminds me of Brexiteers going, "But after Brexit, we can enter into deals without having to think about anyone else!" which rather assumes that everyone else will jump at the chance to make favourable deals. It's a bit like (to my mind) a middle aged guy coming off a divorce going "Now I can sleep with 20 year olds!" without considering that they might not want to sleep with you.
Locob0: its been almost a year since word funk went on a indefinate hiatus, i still miss it it was the highlight of my week and it kept me happy
